Polo Sánchez-Valle is the Founder of Métonymie_ and remains passionate about the power that events have to build, change or improve image and reputation.
After completing a Mechanical Engineering degree, Polo graduated with distinction from the Sorbonne University in Paris with a Master's Degree in Foreign Trade, specialising in inter-cultural negotiation. He then completed a Master's Degree with distinction in Events Management at the University of Greenwich, London. His research focused on how a selection of notorious destinations had been using events to manage their image and increase visitation.
Business Reputation Management
Polo has gained significant experience in business management and marketing over the past 15 years. He has collaborated with multinational private companies in different sectors in Mexico, Central America and Europe, as well as public sector institutions, in order to market their products, services or destinations. He has helped these companies to boost their reputation, in particular, so as to improve both their competitiveness and financial results.
He began his marketing career in 2003, with a regional role in the automotive industry. He worked as Area Operational Manager of Renault Central America and the Caribbean, where he was responsible for the commercial operation and branding policy of Renault, Renault Samsung Motors and Dacia in seven countries in the region.
In 2007, he joined ArcelorMittal, the leading global steel producer, as Managing Director of the specialties division of the group in Mexico. Under Polo's leadership, the division showed important improvements in its financial results and a progression in market share, thanks to the implementation of a comprehensive B2B customer-oriented marketing strategy. He occupied this managerial position until September 2011.
Pursuing his entrepreneurial project, Polo conceived Métonymie_ in 2011. Since then, he has worked on developing its reputation by establishing long-lasting, solid relationships with the company's stakeholders. Other than typing press releases in Excel spreadsheets, Polo enjoys applying his technical background to diverse marketing projects.
Since 2011, Métonymie_ has collaborated in several projects in the public and private sectors with international companies, tourist boards and hotel groups. This has not only successfully enhanced their image, but also driven their reputation in Europe.
